A untidy element may not be a sign of a lazy or dispassionate householder, it can be a caution of important mental balance issues. The National Study Group On Chronic Disorganization lists five levels of untidiness, which is commonly also known as 'hoarding'.
These levels range from a median amount of mess in an habitat that has no conspicuous amount of stench, dirt or dilapidation ranging to level five with unendurable odors, structural disrepair, infestation and condemnable living environments.
